Jonathan Diaz is a 2009 OF with a 5'7'', 158 lb. frame from Pembroke Pines FL, who attends American Heritage. Diaz has a compact body with a good lean build. Defensively, Diaz throws with a short arm action and has solid arm strength for his age. His arm works well and has nice actions to the baseball. Diaz is a good runner (6.97) and moves well to the ball. At the plate, Diaz starts with a slightly open stance and stays open through his swing. He uses a no stride approach and has a rotational approach to hitting. Diaz has quick hands to the ball and generates bat speed through the zone. He is short to the ball and has some present strength to his swing. Diaz has a good approach in the box and swings it with little effort. He'll continue to develop as a hitter and improve as he makes a few minor adjustments to his swing. Diaz is a good student.
