2020 Gulf Coast Prospect Showcase
James Woody is a 2023 3B/C with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Ridgeland, MS who attends Ridgeland. Medium build with a very athletic build proving to have physical strength throughout the frame. Ran a 7.29 second sixty yard dash. Primary Third Baseman, shows a good first step as he proved to move well laterally. Confident in the glove as he scoops it up and shuffles into transfers. Arm strength starting to show as he threw it 82 mph across the diamond. Great instincts for the position and projects well here. Secondary Catcher, proving to be flexible while sitting in his stance. Did a nice job of blocking up the baseball and was quick with transfers on throw downs. Recorded a 2.18 second pop time during drills. Right-Handed Hitter, starting slightly open and balanced. Whipped the bat head through the zone as he drove it gap to gap with ease. Proved to have some power to the pull-side as he doubled down the left field line in games. Always has his head in the game and is a natural leader. Outstanding Student. Named to Gulf Coast Top Prospect List.
