Kevin Chia is a 2009 RHP/C with a 6'1'', 160 lb. frame from Roswell, GA who attends Pope HS. He has a young and slender body with limited present strength. Chia has a side arm throwing style with a clean delivery and low release point. He got good run and sink on a low 70's fastball and stayed around the plate, making hitters swing the bat. He also threw a curveball and change up around the strike zone. Chia caught in defensive drills and showed pretty good arm strength behind the plate, although he had no understanding of catching fundamentals. He might have a pretty decent fastball from a higher release point based on what he showed behind the plate. Chia is an excellent student.
