Toshiki Kuriya is a 2020 1B/ with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Funabashi, CH who is an international free agent. Large slender frame with some projectable length and athleticism. Posted a 6.90 second sixty yard dash time. Primary infielder, moves to the ball well and makes solid initial reads off the bat. Showcases soft hands that field out in front as he works to find a hop. Quick transfer on his throws to all bags and was gunned at 82 mph across the diamond. On the mound, works exclusively out of the stretch. Has a shorter arm action from a three-quarters to low three-quarters arm slot. Mid-leg lift slightly pauses at the top, then sweeps straight down the hill. Free and easy thrower with minimal effort to his 72-77 mph fastball which has some arm side run and sink thanks to his low slot. Sidewinding breaking ball possesses a 10-to-4 shape and he has the ability to land it in the strike zone consistently. At the plate, uses a slightly open stance with a free and loose overall feel. Shifts his weight heavily onto his backside in his load, creates torque and uses much of his leverage in his swing. Backside collapses but hands work well through the baseball. Line drive barrel plane despite his collapsing backside, finds solid carry to his pull side. Middle to pull approach.
