John Taylor is a 2020 3B/1B/MIF with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Tigard, OR who attends Lakeridge. Medium frame with an athletic build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary third baseman with athletic footwork while moving to and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling and worked through exchange quickly. Released from a three-quarters arm slot showing solid carry with developing accuracy to the bag at 80 mph. Left handed hitter with a narrow, slightly open stance and leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Looser hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Primarily looked to work to the middle of the field but flashed the bat speed to turn the barrel and work to pull side as well. Also pitched utilizing a side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball created good downhill tilt with slight sink and run in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 79 mph. Flashed a changeup offering in the low 70's as well. Created good deception with offering when matching arm speed of fastball.
