Sam Chapman is a 2022 OF/RHP, 1B with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Gilbert, AZ who attends Campo Verde. Long and lengthy slender build with plenty of room to fill out as he continues to develop. Primary outfielder, works directly to the ball, fields out in front. Transfers cleanly, longer arm action, throws stay on line to all bags. On the mound, has a longer arm action that comes up to a high three-quarters slot. High leg kick with both a two-seam and a four-seam fastball up to 77 mph. Commands his fastball well to both sides of the plate. Mixes in a slurvy shaped 66 mph breaking ball that keeps hitters off balance. At the plate, uses a tall and open stance with a simple leg lift trigger. Lower handset with a slightly lifted barrel plane through the zone. Consistent backspin with good carry to his pull side gap.
