Ryan Pruitt is a 2022 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-10 151 lb. frame from Trophy Club, TX who attends Byron Nelson HS. Ryan is an athletically built and soundly skilled player who has a lot of upside in his game. In addition to his prowess on the field, Ryan is also an exemplary student. He ran an impressive 7.02 60 yard dash; a time that is plus average for his age group. A primary LHP, Ryan has noticeable effectiveness on the bump. His mechanics fit his style. He uses a cerebral approach and works the strike zone with precision. He incorporates a lower leg lift and a slight turn with a short, quick arm stroke that baffles hitters. He pounds the zone with a 73-75 mph fastball that has the look of a pitch with much higher velocity. His mechanical operation aides him tremendously. Being lefthanded is a bonus. He shows consistent, and seemingly natural arm side run to his heater. He misses a lot of barrels and induces weak contact. His 64 mph curveball is solid in and with its deception from strictly a speed standpoint. The shape is a tad inconsistent at times, but further advanced practice will help with the snap needed to make his CB a solid pitch. He has the idea. He just needs to refine the release and then turn it with purpose. Ryan shows great potential on the mound and his obvious commitment to his game will make him a prospect going forward. Ryan also took his turn in the outfield. His approach to fielding is consistent and sure. His glovework is pure. His 70 mph throws to the infield were on-line and accurate. At first base, Ryan shows a consistent ability to make the routine play. He has deliberate actions and his glove plays. His 69 mph throws are on target. At the plate, the long and lean LH swinger utilizes a very simple operation. His timing is sound and he has a feel for the barrel. He also has a certain rhythm to his swing operation that allows him to get his bat to and through contact with quick efficiency. He is a contact first hitter who has an solid ability to hit line drives to various parts of the field. There is a lot to admire about Ryan's overall game. He has obviously worked extremely hard and with great attention to detail to get to this point in his career. He shows promise moving forward and with just a bit of added strength and a continued focus on the finer parts of the sport, he will get the opportunity to advance his career.
