Cody Covington is a 2006 first baseman/right handed pitcher from Garden Ridge, TX, with a long lean frame and projectable build at 6-3 185 lbs. Defensively, he showed decent feet and squared his body to the ball nicely. He has a long arm action and made strong accurate throws. He hits from a tall, square stance with a mechanical load and a toe-tap trigger. He showed decent bat speed with gap power potential and kept his hands inside the ball well. As he grows and gets stronger he will hit with home run power. He pitches from a high ¾ arm slot with a long full arm action and good extension. He used a tall and fall style delivery that allowed him to throw with good downward plane on all of his pitches. His fastball was 82 mph with arm side life. He also threw a big breaking curveball at 69 mph with 12-6 break. He also threw a change at 73 mph witth sinking action. He has a very projectable frame, a solid swing and a good set of tools to build on. Cody is an excellent student.
