Kaleb Wilkey is a 2023 C/1B, 3B with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Manhattan, IL who attends Lincoln-Way West. Compact and sturdy build with present strength. Primary catcher with an athletic lower half, moves well with game-like actions. Gains ground toward second base, shows a quick transfer and release. Throws were on the bag, recorded a 2.02 second pop time at 77 mph. Handled pitchers well in the game, showed solid receiving skills. Secondary infielder, gets into position well with good fundamentals and footwork, developing foot quickness at present. Very smooth with the glove, presents it early with a clean funnel to the center, has soft hands, solid showing for a secondary position. Right-handed hitter with a narrow base and low hand set. Knee to knee stride, gets the hands into a good position and shows quality bat speed. Swings with high intent and produced solid contact during his round, at his best when he gets extended and goes to the opposite field gap. Excellent student.
