Cequon Tyson is a 2020 LHP/1B with a 5-9 195 lb. frame from Rolesville, NC who attends Southern High School Magnet Career Academy. Medium frame with strong, physical build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.72 seconds. Primary lefthanded pitcher, shorter inline stride downhill, spine tilts over to get arm up to very high slot, straight overtop, hides the ball well and creates deception, fastball worked 70-75 mph with very good plane to the bottom of the zone, quality curveball with 12/6 shape and good depth, filled up the zone with both pitches. Hits from spread stance with low back elbow, middle field approach, gets onto front side a bit at times and creates downward barrel path, shows solid contact skills, stays committed to the middle and can use the whole field. Worked out at first base, shows athleticism coming off the bag, feet are quick and work well, soft hands fielding cleanly, clocked up to 75 mph on throws across the infield. Good student.
