2019 Atlantic Coast Prospect Showcase
Jake Newquist is a 2020 RHP/1B, 3B, SS with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from Clarksburg, MD who attends Our Lady Of Good Counsel. Large frame with long, lean, projectable build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.51 seconds. Primary righthanded pitcher, compact arm stroke through the back, good direction to the plate, fastball worked 80-84 mph, quick arm with good velocity projection, showed curveball with some bite to it as well, intriguing upside young arm. Hits from even-based stance, active hands in load, multiple toe tap trigger, swings it hard with intent to do damage, barrel gets around the ball at times, projects well for power. Good infield round, hands create good funnel out front, moves well to both sides and shows athleticism, fields cleanly, stays balanced, clocked up to 83 mph on throws. Named to 2019 Atlantic Coast Showcase Top Prospect List.
