Matthew Wolz is a 2023 C/RHP, IF, OF with a 5-7 130 lb. frame from Kansas City, MO who attends Liberty North. Recorded a 7.35 second sixty-yard dash time. Smaller, slender build with some room to add strength. Primary catcher with developing defensive skill set; uses deeper set stance with soft hands to receive, while incorporating small steps to gain ground towards his target. Displayed developing arm strength during drills with soft carry to the bags. Secondary infielder with anticipatory footwork into the fielding process, showing a slightly deeper funnel position and some present lateral range. Recorded arm strength up to 73 mph across the diamond. Also, took a turn on the mound during game play, imploring a simple operation to work in the low-70s for most of his outing from a three-quarters arm slot. Strike thrower that mixed in slower breaking ball that lacks real shpae to disrupt hitters timing. Switch-hitter that hits from a similar narrow, open stance with a negative load into launch. Middle-to-opposite field approach with downward and slightly elongated swing path. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Good Student.
