Kyle Gerlach is a 2020 RHP/C, MIF with a 6-3 175 lb. frame from Fredericksburg, VA who attends Mountain View. Taller frame with long limbs and a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays slightly flexed on back side at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Lands in line with front side. Quick arm circle at take back and released from a mid three-quarters slot. Created some crossfire at released with a fastball offering that topped at 74 mph. Displayed good feel for fastball offering to glove side. Curveball had 10/4 shape with solid spin and good depth in the low 60's. Consistently located each offering within the zone and challenged hitters. Also worked out defensively from behind the plate and infield. From behind the plate showed a slightly side set stance while receiving the baseball. Gains some ground out of crouch while working to a taller throwing position. Released from a three-quarters slot creating some on line carry to the bag topping at 71 mph, best workout pop time of 2.04. From the infield utilize smooth paced, deliberate action while working to and surrounding the baseball. Funnels from a deeper position and worked through exchange well. Released from a three-quarters slot topping at 75 mph. Right handed hitter with a slightly open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Created some linear shift into contact with lower half. Loose hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Primarily looked to work the ball to the middle of the field on a line. Excellent student as well.
