Sam Wesner is a 2023 OF/C with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Newbury Park, CA who attends Newbury Park. Strong athletic build with room to fill out. Ran a 7.53 second sixty-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary outfielder. Displayed low deliberate actions working to and through the baseball in the outfield. Flashed confident glove actions using out front funnels into clean transfers. Showed a three-quarter arm slot into throws with good arm strength and accurate carry to the bases topping out at 74 MPH from the outfield. Also worked out defensively as a catcher. Employs a taller, side saddle set up with clean receiving actions. Flashed good footwork gaining ground well from behind the plate. Displayed developing exchanges into throws with good arm strength and accurate carry to second base topping out at 69 MPH and posting a 2.31 second pop time. Left handed hitter. Employs an upright even stance with a simple leg lift trigger and rotational lower half. Flashed a deep hand load moving to an inside hand path to and through the baseball. Looks to drive line drives to the middle and opposite fields. Showed good barrel control creating consistently driven line drives to the middle and opposite fields. In games showed power to the opposite field with a loud double down the left field line.
