M.J. Forsberg is a 2008 right handed pitcher from Huntington Beach HS, residing in Huntington Beach, CA. He has a 6'4" 185 lb. frame and a broad, rangy build that has a lot of room for him to fill out in the coming years. His is truly one that can be called a projectable frame, particularly when you consider what he has to offer in terms of his arm action and his stuff. Forsberg has a long arm action and gets to deep extension on the backside. He stays over the rubber well and that deep extension allows him to create leverage with his quick arm. He has a very nice and projectable type of arm action. His delivery has good rhythm and starts with an easy lift, then continues with fluidity. He gets to good extension and basically, his arm works quite well. Forsberg showed plus sink with his fastball that topped at 82 mph. He controlled it on both sides of the plate and tilted it on a good angle through the zone. He also showed the ability to cut the fastball, whether that was intentional or accidental. Forsberg possesses two breaking balls, one is a 12/6ish curveball and the other is a baby slider. Both have good spin and late action. The curveball has good tilt and in time could be a power breaker. Nothing he throws is straight and he understands how to pitch, including his pitch sequences. He should be followed closely by D1 programs and don't be surprised to see him develop into a professional prospect by the 2008 draft. His arm works, his body is still developing, and he is not far from having special stuff.
