Robert Van Cour is a 2008 OF/RHP with a 6'1'', 175 lb. frame from San Antonio, TX, who attends Reagan HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team at this event. Van Cour has an athletic frame with great projection. He has speed in the sixty (6.78) and shows even better game speed on the bases and defensively. In the outfield he moves to the ball well with smooth actions, and has solid arm strength with online carry to the bag. Van Cour makes it look easy. At the plate he hits from a wide base with a no stride approach. He has very good bat speed with a line drive swing plane, and uses the whole field. Van Cour takes an aggressive swing, but has a good knowledge of the strike zone and doesn't chase bad pitches. On the mound he has good arm speed from a 3/4 angle that helps produce an 84 mph FB with zip through the zone. Van Cour struck out 8 batters in 3 innings while allowing only 2 hits. He is a legitimate two-way prospect with great upside, and must be followed.
