Kaden Hustead is a 2021 LHP/OF with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Vista, CA who attends San Marcos. Extra-large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, lean and projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.43 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, some gather at top of delivery, lands closed coming down the mound with strike foot, longer arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 80 mph, showed running life when locating to arm side, mostly true when getting to glove side. Mixed a curveball with 12-6 shape at 69 mph and flashed a straight changeup at 70 mph, can maintains arm speed better on the pitch. Similar arm stroke in the outfield, shows quickness to arm, short stride through the ball working to a higher slot, worked around the bag well with throws. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open and tall stance with a high hand set set; gets closed moving into contact with a longer stride through lower half. Creates whip with the barrel and remains short through the zone, occasionally gets too inside the ball, creates nice present bat speed though to get the barrel out. Swings with intent and creates some leverage at point of contact, projects well physically. Very good student.
