2020 Gulf Coast Prospect Showcase
Matthew Osteen is a 2024 RHP/OF with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Byhalia, MS who attends Lewisburg HS. Recorded a 7.36 second 60-yard dash time. Young, athletic frame with a lot of room to fill out and add strength. Primary righthanded pitcher with a very athletic delivery. Big leg lift and gets into the back hip well. Fastball topped out at 81 mph and generates a lot of riding life. Drop and drive backside actions and fields position well. Clean arm stroke and not afraid to run the fastball inside. Changeup is sold with excellent arm speed and the slider shows very late tilt and hard bite. Advanced offspeed pitches and misses a lot of bats. Arm strength plays from secondary position of outfield. Righthanded hitter with a narrow stance, high hand set, and a low leg lift. Open and relaxed at start with a middle of the field approach. Creates good bat speed and impact when extended out in front. Named to the Gulf Coast Prospect TP List.
