Diego Tavarez is a 2023 SS/2B, MIF, OF with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Spotswood, NJ who attends Ranney. Recorded a 5.12 second forty-yard dash. The primary shortstop has athletic movements as he funnels the ball out front with good footwork and glove actions and shifts into a quick transfer with sidearm release while accurately throwing across the diamond at a recorded 77 mph. The switch hitting shortstop steps into the plate from the left side with a narrow and slightly open stance with an upright approach, high hands, and a high back elbow. Tavarez has a slight toe tap trigger and glides to contact with a middle to opposite field approach. Switching to the right side of the plate with a narrow and slightly closed off stance, high hands, and a low elbow as he pulls the hands in well for a line drive swing with a middle to pull approach. Excellent student.
