Ryan Johnson is a 2020 OF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Naples, FL who attends St. John Neumann HS. Medium frame with longer limbs and wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary outfielder with deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Funnels out front and maintains momentum towards the bag while working through exchange. Released from a three-quarters slot creating uphill carry to the bag at 66 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from first base showing compact footwork while centering the baseball. Funnels from a slightly deeper position and worked through exchange with loose actions. Released from a lower three-quarters slot creating some on line carry at 67 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a spread, even stance and toe tap trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Direct hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Flashed some bat speed at contact when on time to baseball. Primarily looked to connect with baseball out front and work between the gaps. Good student as well.
