Jacob Phillips is a 2021 C/RHP, 3B with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from La Grange, KY who attends South Oldham. Compact frame with a lean build. Primary catcher with a low, balanced stance while receiving the baseball. Gains some ground while working out of crouched with smooth paced footwork. Compact glove circle while working through exchange and released from a three-quarters slot. Throws generated some carry to the bag topping at 68 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 2.25. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and toe tap trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Direct hand path to baseball with a level, line drive barrel plane. Primarily looked to throw barrel head to contact and work to the middle of the field and pull side gap. Also pitched showing a side step to high leg lift delivery. Coils over back leg at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball created occasional tilt through the bottom of the zone in the mid to upper 60's, topped at 70 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with looser spin and some depth in the low 60's. Looked to locate within the zone and challenge hitters.
