Ryan Host is a 2023 SS/RHP, OF with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Pflugerville, TX who attends Hendrickson. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.06 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, shows quickness to footwork and plays low through the ball and maintained balance well on the charge, fields the ball out front, works on top of throws and shows accuracy across, quick transfer out of glove, strength will continue to develop. Also pitched, worked exclusively out of the stretch, begins with a leg lift and rock at top; loose arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 77 mph with plane when on top, mixed a curveball with big shape up to 61 mph, tends to slow prior to release. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; balanced stroke stroke shows consistent timing moving through mechanics. Compact stroke through the zone with quickness to hands, contact oriented approach and incorporates hips well into swing. Hands work nicely, projects with strength and shows leverage out front, steady feel for the barrel.
