Evander Ledward is a 2007 LHP/OF from Damien Memorial HS, residing in Waianae, HI, with a 5'11" 160 lb. frame. Named to the Top Prospect Team, Ledward has an athletic and lively body type. On the mound Ledward shows his most promise. He pitches from an over the top slot and has a quick and leveraged arm stroke that projects more velocity in the coming years. The ball comes easily out of his hand. His fastball (81-83) is sneaky and should add natural velocity as his body starts to gain and hold weight and strength. Ledward's best secondary pitch is a curveball (68-73) that at times has sharp action and 12/6 shape. In his delivery Ledward has good body control but is still lively. He is aggressive to the zone and shows some pitchability. It is the ease with which the ball comes out of his hand that makes this young lefthander most intriguing. Ledward does show some good things on offense, particluarly from the left side where he looks most comfortable. From the right side he has a quiet approach, shows good balance, and a flat bat path through the zone. From the left side he has a quick bat, good balance, and good extension. His hands work to and through the ball well and he shows a little potential gap power from the left side. On defense he has a good approach, and a quick release. Ledward is best to follow on the mound as his arm action projects well.
