Matt Hernandez is a 2022 SS/2B with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Huntington Beach, CA who attends Mater Dei. Long and lean frame with excellent physical projection. Ran a 7.26 second 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, takes a hard approach to the ball with a good internal clock, has quick feet laterally, works low to the ball with good glove work adjusting to hops well, funnels the ball to a good mid line and shows ease on his throws across the diamond. Right-handed hitter, sets up even with high hands and a high back elbow; takes a longer path to the ball with good looseness in his hands, finds the barrel at a fairly consistent rate with projectable bat speed and flashed some hard impact when synced up and could improve results with added strength. Excellent student.
