Nathan Vermillion is a 2020 RHP/3B with a 6-1 215 lb. frame from Davidsonville, MD who attends Arch Bishop Spalding. Big build with present strength especially in the lower half. Ran a 5.71 second 40 yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, sets up on first base side, starts windup with a side step up to a high leg lift, front leg extends out as he works down mound, bends at balance point, could look to stay taller on back side, compact arm action up to a high 3/4 slot, extended front side with developing use of it, could add some arm speed with development of front side usage, some drop and drive actions off the rubber but could use more of back leg for added arm strength and velocity, throws pretty easy, filled up the zone well. Fastball showed heavy sink, topped out at 82 mph on the mound, mixed in a pair of offspeed pitches, good straight changeup, curveball is mostly tight with good bite. Also took reps in the infield, developing footwork at gather, quick transfer with good arm strength, topped out at 85 mph across the diamond. Righthanded hitter, open stance, high leg lift, long swing plane but gets barrel to it well, looseness to swing with interesting components with added reps, ball jumps when squared, one handed finish. Good student. Named to 2018 Northeast Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
