Derek Paris is a 2022 C/RHP/SS with a 5-8 145 lb. frame from Lanesboro, MA who attends Mt Greylock Reg. Medium frame with slender, athletic present build. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.50 seconds. Rotational hitting mechanics, shows good hands, gets barrel moving on linear plane, hands work well in swing, glides into contact with front foot, front hip flies open at times and creates sweeping pull-oriented swing path, shows good feel for the barrel. Primary catcher, gains ground well out of higher-set crouch, fuller arm stroke through the back, showed some accuracy on downhill throws, clocked up to 62 mph. Also took infield reps, shows clean hand actions at the ball, maintains balance well, quick transfer and release, clocked up to 66 mph across the diamond. Also pitched, stands tall on backside and shows balance, compact arm stroke to three quarters slot, fastball worked 63-68 mph with flashes of cutting life, showed 12/6-shaped curveball with gradual depth, did a good job throwing strikes.
