2007 California Underclass Showcase
Justin Schwartz is a 2008 MIF with a 5'7'', 162 lb. frame from Beverly Hills, CA who attends Beverly Hills HS. He has a small frame with some present strength for his size. Schwartz has better quickness than speed, his 7.30 time for the 60 isn't as important in his evaluation as his 4.45 home to first time and his infield actions. Schwartz has quick feet to the ball, with soft quick hands and a quick release. His defensive actions are polished and well coached and he makes the plays. Schwartz's arm strength limits him to second base and is an area that he'll have to work on in the future. Offensively, Schwartz hits from a square stance with flexed knees and high hands. He takes an aggressive, full swing and has some bat speed. His best contact was to the opposite field but he'll have to work on keeping his swing short, especially against higher velocity pitchers. Schwartz is a solid ball player with a good approach and good fundamentals. He is also an outstanding student.
