Matthew Bathauer is a 2019 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-2 220 lb. frame from Kingman, AZ who attends Lee Williams. Large frame with strong build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.78 seconds. Primary lefthanded pitcher, fluid and easy tempo to delivery with good balance over backside, arm is loose and works well through release, compact arm stroke to high three quarters slot, good extension through release, fastball worked 78-81 mph with good plane to the plate and good command. Mixed in curveball with power 1/7 shape and good spin; also showed slider with vertical break and good snap. Very good feel to pitch overall, mixed and matched effectively. Hits from crouched stance with narrow base, leg lift trigger, pull-side power approach with intent to get the ball into the air, showed solid jump up gap when square. Worked out at 1st base, showed solid footwork and efficient hand actions, clean release across the diamond, clocked up to 76 mph. Very good student, named to 2018 National Underclass West Top Prospect List.
