2005 Spring Top Prospect
Lyman is a sophomore left handed hitting middle infielder from Wisconsin with good strength and physical maturity for his age. He’s 5-11, 180 lbs with good athletic proportions now but could keep growing. Lyman ran the 60 in 7.22 and showed good quickness in the field and on the bases. He looked a bit uncomfortable at shortstop with his balance and throwing mechanics but also played third base in the games and looked much better defensively at that position. Lyman made a couple of plays there that showed quickness and arm strength. At the plate Lyman had a slashing pull oriented hitting style during batting practice but used the entire field during games. He has a strong lower half that he uses well in his swing and made good contact against live pitching. Lyman should continue to improve in the future and is a good follow. He is also a very good student.
