Joe Perna is a 2021 OF/SS with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Hammonton, NJ who attends Hammonton. Recorded a 5.33 second forty-yard dash time. Medium, compact build with some lean muscle to his frame and some room to add strength. Primary outfielder with good feel for the position, aggressive actions into the fielding process and present arm strength. Fields slightly off to the side with late glove actions, gathering cleanly to transfer into a slightly elongated throwing motion. Takes some extra steps to gain momentum. Recorded arm strength up to 84 mph from a long, loose arm action, displaying accuracy and carry to his throws. Right-handed hitter that hits from an upright, slightly closed stance with a tight hand set, high back elbow and toe-tap trigger. Compact swing with slight uppercut swing path, some natural lift and quickness to his hands. Showed consistent bat-to-ball skills with high contact rate and occasional gap-to-gap power. Middle-of-the field approach with ability to turn the barrel on the inner half. Solid skill set that will improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Excellent Student.
