Joel Holguin is a 2020 SS/RHP with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from San Bernardino, CA who attends Eisenhower. Medium athletic build, primary shortstop. Shows athletic actions in the infield. Ranges well to either hole, feet are quick, arm action is quick and short. Threw 81 mph across the diamond. Soft hands and clean glove actions, accurate throws from multiple slots. On the mound, shorter arm action from a three-quarters arm slot. Uses a mid-leg lift. Fastball sits 78-to-80 mph and has good feel to both sides of the plate. Curveball has an 11-to-5 shape and is still developing depth. At the plate from the left side, slightly open stance with a leg lift trigger. Coils hands slightly at load. From the right side, keeps his hands very low and they travel a long distance into his load. A lot of moving parts, quieter from the left side. Very good student with a 3.85 GPA.
