Ryan Whiteley is a 2018 LHP/ with a 5-10 200 lb. frame from Choctaw, OK who attends Choctaw. Broad shoulder with a solid build and present strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a short rock step to high leg lift delivery. Gathers well at balance point and works with rhythm to the plate. Hid the baseball well with a compact arm circle at take back and released from an extended three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed solid life to each side of the plate with occasional sink in the low to mid 70's. Curveball had early 3/8 shape out of hand with good sweeping action to glove side. Flashed solid feel for the pitch with the ability to throw for strikes in positive and negative counts. Also showed a straight changeup that had slight fade in the upper 60's. Consistently changed speeds and locations while effectively keeping hitters off balance. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and toe tap trigger. Stays on back side throughout and works to contact with rotational actions. Loose, extended hand path to contact with a line drive barrel plane through finish. Utilized a mid-field approach with developing feel for the barrel. Outstanding student.
