Trey Duffield is a 2022 RHP/IF/OF with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Strake Jesuit College Prep. Outstanding athletic build for a freshman, long and projectable with lots of room to get stronger. Smooth delivery with good balance and direction, long and loose 3/4's arm stroke, repeats his sound mechanics well. Fastball topped out at 85 mph, lots more velocity in there with time and physical maturity. Showed quality to both his curveball and change up, curveball was tight with late biting action and some power, maintained arm speed well on both secondary pitches. Threw strikes and was poised on the mound. High ceiling pitching prospect. Showed his athleticism well in the outfield with solid footwork through the ball and a smooth and quick release, has on line carry on his throws. Right handed hitter, tall and fall approach at the plate from an open stance, looks to pull and drive the ball and swings with intent, shows raw bat speed but will need to make some swing adjustments to consistently use it. Good student. Named to the 2018 National Underclass South Showcase Top Prospect List.
