Anthony Esposito is a 2020 C/1B with a 6-2 220 lb. frame from Lincroft, NJ who attends Middletown South High School. Large, broad shouldered frame with a mature build and present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 6.00 40-yard dash. Primary catcher, slight turn in crouch during drills, receives the ball out front well and shows a smooth transfer, fuller arm action through the back, tall at release and can continue to incorporate lower half to gain ground, gets on top of throws well and shows carry with accuracy to second base. Shows quickness to actions coming off the first base bag, hands play out front at the ball, gets on top of throws nicely. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; incorporates lower half with subtle weight shift. Strides closed moving into contact and incorporates physical strength well. Creates extension out front and remains linear through the zone with occasional leverage, showed a handle for the barrel while creating sound bat speed. Occasionally opens front side early but connected for hard line drive contact back up the middle. Very good student.
