Zaden Marroquin is a 2021 C/MIF, OF, UT with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Olathe, KS who attends Olathe East. Medium frame with square shoulders and an athletic build. Ran a 7.04 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary catcher. Sets up in a low side straddle stance. Receives out in front and into transitions. Stays compact with arm circle. Feet work well through transitions and when gaining ground towards the bag. Creates carry to the bag topping out at 75 MPH and popping a 2.01 during workouts. Also worked out defensively as a secondary middle infielder. Fields out in front with some stiffness in funnel in. Moves well in both directions showing range. Works through exchanges well and stays accurate to the bag. Creates occasional carry here topping out at 80 MPH. Also worked out from the outfield. Comes to get the baseball with an aggressive close and athletic strides. Maintains momentum through exchanges well. Gets on top of the ball well with an over the top release and throws topping out at 82 MPH. Righthanded hitter with an even stance and low hand set. Pretty direct hand path to the baseball with quickness in hands that translates to some bat speed. All fields approach creating solid line drive contact with some consistency. Excellent student as well.
