Joseph Gonzalez is a 2020 SS/SS with a 5-9 145 lb. frame from Staten Island, NY who attends Tottenville. Compact frame with a lean build. Projects for additional size and strength with continued physical maturity. Primary shortstop with smooth paced footwork while surrounding and rounding the baseball. Moves well with solid range to back hand. Clean glove actions while funneling with fluid glove to hand exchanges. Flashed ability to change arm action while on the run with accuracy across the infield, topped at 74 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a narrow, upright stance. Stays balanced throughout swing with rotational lower half actions to contact. Loose hand path to baseball with a level, line drive barrel plane through the hitting zone. Swung with intent to drive the baseball utilizing a mid field approach. Repeated path and plane well and the ability to manipulate bat head at times. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
