Juan D. Alvarado Pagán is a 2018 C/UT with a 5-9 172 lb. frame from Santa Isabel, PR who attends Puerto Rico BB Acad. Medium build, really looks the part, lean and athletic frame with present strength proportioned well throughout. Ran a 6.99 second 60 yard dash. Primary catcher, stands tall at set, smooth receiver with a quick exchange to hand, arm action that could be shortened for quicker release, average arm strength with carry and accuracy, popped an event best 1.95 second pop. Also took reps in the outfield, fluid to ball with a quick exchange and release, short arm action that is really quick, above average arm strength topping out at 86 mph from outfield. Switch hitter, spread out and open stance with a high hand set and a high back elbow, tends to leak out onto front side from left side, from right side, simpler swing with more rhythm, coils at load, natural lofted swing path with some pop off of the barrel, good weight transfer turning hips well creating torque, present bat speed from each side. Great student. Named to 2018 World Uncommitted Showcase Top Prospect List.
