Alejandro Flores is a 2022 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Corpus Christi, TX who attends John Paul II. Alejandro is an emerging, physically gifted LHP/1B who has a sound understanding of the game and his future in it. His very noticeable effort level was off the charts good. In addition to his skill level on the diamond, Alejandro also performs admirably in the classroom. Alejandro is a primary LHP who also shows keen ability at first base. On the mound, he uses a smooth and easy operation that is highlighted by his high 3/4 arm slot that is repeated extremely well. Alejandro has a mature ability to pitch backwards. He can throw his 80-83 mph active fastball to both edges and in any count. He shows an advanced feel for the art as he displays routine ability to throw his 68 mph, 1/7 breaking curveball and his 78 mph tumbling fastball to any hitter, whether he is ahead or behind in the count. Both of his secondary pitches are swing and miss type offerings. His command and control are excellent. He works with sound pace, tempo, and rhythm and is adept in setting hitters up. He gets a lot of weak contact and flailing swings and misses. As he continues to mature physically, add strength and twitch, and gain more experience, there should be a noticeable uptick in his velocity which will certainly make him a top prospect on the mound. As a first baseman, Alejandro also shows that same smooth and easy demeanor. Nothing appears to rattle him. His feet work well, He positions quickly and shows a consistent ability to make the routine play. His arm, naturally, plays well here and his throws are firm and true. At the plate, the lefthanded swinger utilizes a bigger leg lift to trigger. He showed loose hands and an ability to get his barrel to contact and drive the baseball with force especially well to the pull side. Alejandro is just truly coming into his own as a two-way player and as he continues forward with his baseball career, his skill level will unquestionably continue to improve. There is some big upside to the big lefthander.
