Cole Van Poppel is a 2020 RHP/1B with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Rotan, TX who attends Rotan. Athletic build with some present strength and room for more. Hand drop delivery into a slow paced delivery, high deliberate leg raise, good direction to the plate, high 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 84 mph, gets nice glove side cutting action at times, has better feel for his fastball to right handed hitters. Curveball has some 11/5 shape and depth with consistent spin and bite. Right handed hitter, has an early rock in approach with a long and loose upper body swing, ball comes off the barrel well with gap to gap line drive contact. Excellent student.
