Robert Yates is a 2017 C with a 6-0 192 lb. frame from Bellaire, TX who attends Bellaire HS. Medium, broad shouldered frame with present strength proportioned throughout frame, utilizes strength well in actions on the field. Ran a 7.93 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, receives the ball out front, comes out of the crouch and gains short ground with lower half, gets on top of throws from a compact arm action and shows accuracy down to second base, repeats mechanics, arm strength and carry will continue to develop with additional lower half. Righthanded hitter, begins with a square stance in the box. Shows a simple set of swing mechanics in live actions with a linear plane to the ball and a sound path coming through the zone. Occasionally will lose plane and get downward with swing but gets the barrel to the ball well, contact approach and can work the opposite field gap, full swing path through the zone. Very good student.
