Thomas "Ben" Schoneman IV is a 2019 RHP/2B with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Albuquerque, NM who attends La Cueva HS. Square shouldered projectable athletic frame. Simple delivery with a long arm stroke in back, low 3/4's arm slot with a whippy arm coming through. Mid-80's fastball, topped out at 86 mph, good arm side running life to his fastball, can work his fastball to spots and stays out of the middle of the plate with it. Lowers slot a bit more on a frisbee breaking ball, good depth with lots of spin, gets better 10/4 shape when he stays at his normal slot. Got lots of swing and miss on his FB/CB combination. Developing change up with a slower body and arm. Works quickly and attacks the strike zone with intent. Right handed hitter, hits from a tall and open stance, good timing, short and simple swing with good barrel control, steady line drive contact. Third base tools on defense, shows his athleticism well along with his arm strength. Really liked his approach to pitching and the way he attacked hitters. Very good student.
