Spencer Shipman is a 2020 SS with a 5-8 160 lb. frame from Newman Lake, WA who attends West Valley HS. Medium middle infielder's build with some present strength, looks bigger than listed. 7.27 runner, shows good range in the infield with a quick first step, polished actions through the ball with good balance, very good infield arm strength from a compact and quick arm stroke, makes accurate throws, everything very clean and easy defensively. Right handed hitter, hits from an open stance with a high back elbow start, line drive swing plane with some bat speed and the ability to make the ball jump. Also pitched, turn and throw delivery with a high leg lift start, has a quick arm from a high 3/4's arm slot, some effort at release. Fastball topped out at 87 mph with occasional arm side run. Curveball is a solid second pitch with power spin and bite at times. Good student.
