Jalen Cowan is a 2020 SS/RHP/C with a 5-8 162 lb. frame from Clinton, MS who attends Clinton High School. Incredibly young player with a lean, slender build, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Primary shortstop, moved well to back hand with good athleticism on the move. Used a longer arm action with developing arm strength. At the plate, started with an open base, tall stance, high hand set, high back elbow, and a hanging leg lift timing mechanism. Linear swing plane with a gap-to-gap approach. Limited present weight transfer, but showed raw tools to drive the ball in the air. Also pitched, used a short arm action, directional delivery, and threw from a three quarter arm slot. Filled the zone effectively with 74-76 mph fastball that showed short life. Also showed a curveball at 60 mph.
