Matt Eckard is a 2017 MIF/RHP, OF with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Milford, IA who attends Okoboji. Eckard has a medium build with room to fill out and add strength. Hits from an upright stance and high back elbow, creates good coil in body on load, brings front knee to back hip on load. Line drive swing plane, will occasionally drift to the front side early causing barrel to drag, but when on time with barrel ball jumps. Defensively, primary INF, short arm action, feet work well, circles it with good feet. Comes through ball with glove. Mid 3/4 arm slot with good carry and accuracy. Also pitch, simple rocker step delivery to leg lift waist high, creates some coil at balance point, long arm circle to a 3/4 slot. Repeats delivery well. Fastball up to 82 was straight, mixed in curveball at 71 with 12/6 shape and flashed depth. Solid command filling zone and forcing contact. Outstanding Student.
