Sylas Wood is a 2019 C/1B, 3B with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Gaffney, SC who attends Gaffney High School. Tall body, athletic build and look. Primary catcher, side saddle, accuracy to bag, developing arm strength. Offensively, lean build, narrow start, high hand set, high back elbow, quick leg lift. Showed decent hand quickness, works up to the ball, line drive plane to the swing, decent barrel feel and contact, hands get through, opposite field contact. Inside hand path, balls sprayed to all fields. Slightly open stance, good bat speed, gets the backside through the ball. Young looking, room to develop and projectable frame. Good student.
