Drake Carter is a 2017 SS/RHP with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from West Linn, OR who attends Wilsonville HS. Carter has a medium frame with a lean athletic build. Hits from a square stance with a narrow base. Line drive swing plane and flashed late bat speed at contact. Mid field approach, simple mechanical swing, hands worked well to ball. Defensively, primary SS, light on feet with athletic actions. Hands work well and are soft. Short arm action with a quick release and accurate throws. Clean round with solid fielding tools. Also pitches, short compact delivery with few moving parts. Balanced and repeatable delivery. Uses short rocker step to start delivery to a high leg lift. Stays tall on the backside but weight does drift a bit early to plate taking away some lower half drive. Lands slightly closed but spins out well to clear hips. 3/4 release point with a long arm circle in back. Creates a little plane to the plate with fastball. Tended to pitch backward, and showed good feel for curveball that had 10/5 action with good depth. Good Student.
