2018 Ohio Valley Prospect Showcase
Eli Winkler is a 2019 OF/RHP, SS with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Cox'S Creek, KY who attends Bethlehem. Athletic frame with present strength. Frame projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 6.80 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with smooth, polished actions while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions and pick up and displayed fluid actions through exchange. Maintained momentum towards the bag while releasing from a three-quarters slot. Throws produced stiff on line carry to the bag topping at 89 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and sweeping leg lift trigger. Shifts into contact well with linear lower half actions. Direct hand path to baseball with a clean line drive barrel plane. Showed present bat speed and strength at contact with the ability to drive the ball through the gaps with east. Consistently barreled baseball creating hard, loud contact. Also pitched showing a smooth paced side step delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Quick arm circle at separation and released from a compact three-quarters slot. Fastball jumped out of hand well producing solid downhill plane in the upper 70's, topped at 80 miles per hour. Matches arm speed with a breaking ball that showed 9/4 spin with tight spin and later tilt. Also flashed a changeup with some sink to the bottom of the zone. Good student. Named to the 2018 Ohio Valley Showcase, Top Prospect List.
