Zach Hurand is a 2020 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-5 195 lb. frame from Cary, NC who attends Athens Drive. Large frame with long limbs and present strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a small side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays slightly flexed on back side at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands in line with target on front side and carries momentum well. Long, loose arm circle at take back and released from a mid three-quarters arm slot. Fastball jumped out of hand well producing heavy run through the zone in the low to mid 80's, topped at 84 mph. Curveball showed 11/5 shape with tight spin and late depth. Consistently located to the edges of the plate and kept hitters off balance. Also worked out defensively from first base and the infield. Displayed clean footwork with smooth glove actions while funneling. Flashed good range to each side with the ability to read hops well. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, slightly open stance and simple front side trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Stays balanced throughout swing while employing a naturally lifted barrel plane through extension. Flashed good jump off the barrel when squared and primarily looked to work the ball between the gaps. Very good student as well.
