Evan Wayne is a 2022 C/RHP, 1B with a 5-10 140 lb. frame from Winter Garden, FL who attends West Orange. Medium, young build with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran an 8.30 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, lower set behind the plate, gets tall out of crouch and gains short ground, can continue to incorporate additional lower half, receives the ball out front, transfers into a compact arm action with a tight release, around the bag with throws and arm strength will continue to develop moving forward. Fields the ball out front at first base, takes longer strides off the bag, overall footwork will keep developing. Also pitched, worked exclusively out of the stretch; full arm action through the backside working to an extended three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 71 mph, creates running life to fastball down in zone when on top, works over front side and pitches to contact while working in the zone well. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a medium hand set and back elbow at the plate; loads hands back at start of swing. Starts with an open stance and gets closed with front foot during leg lift while shifting weight. Short swing and stays direct to the ball, keeps hands inside and works the middle and opposite parts of the field, projects with added strength. Very good student.
