Daniel Courtney is a 2017 OF/RHP with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Little Neck, NY who attends Fiorello H Laguardia High School Of Music. Medium, athletic build, long limbs and a high waist with square shoulders and room to fill throughout frame. Ran a 7.59 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, hands plays out front at the ball, full arm action on throws across, steps open at release, will drop down on arm slot at time, gets on top of throws and shows accuracy. Also pitched, short stride down the mound with full arm action, filled up the zone, showed tailing life to fastball that topped out at 73 mph. Creates deception on straight changeup by maintaining arm speed. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and high back elbow, remains balanced through swing. Upper half swing with full path through the zone, line drive swing plane and gets the barrel through well. Consistent pull side contact with looseness to hands, shows feel for the barrel and some fluidity, projects with additional physicality. Very good student.
